Lessons from an unexspected curveball.
Sometimes, life can throw us a curve ball that is actually a good one.
This morning, while walking to work, I stumbled upon a tree very close to where I live. Each spring, it is full of seeds, and there is still snow on the ground, melting at a painfully slow pace. I picked one to keep for my evening photography study session, but while I was walking the rest of the way to work, my brain was bubbling with questions. I wanted to write an interesting post here, but did not want to sound cliché. Yes, seeds are a symbol of new beginnings, but what kind? I asked myself. And then an idea hit me. An idea that was linked to that very seed. The thing is, I walk right next to that tree every morning while I go to work, and I look at its branches. I am sure that yesterday morning, I did not see any seeds on its small branches, nor in the afternoon while I walked back home from work. The seeds appeared out of nowhere! And that got me thinking. Most people only remember the negative curveballs in their lives, and I am part of that crowd. It is hard for me to remember good curveballs coming my way. And yet, there are days when we get good surprises coming our way that will have a lasting impact on our lives. When we meet certain people who end up becoming more than good acquaintances or even friends to us. Job opportunities that come out of nowhere. A flower given to us freely by a stranger on Valentine’s Day, making us get through a very hard and lonely day with a smile. So many curveballs can seem quite small, and yet, they can have a profound impact on our lives in the long run. Why not focus on these instead of only the bad curveballs that come our way? I do wonder about that. Maybe, if we all did focus on more on the good and less on the bad, the negative, or the hard, maybe life would be a lot easier and we would also learn a lot more from ourselves and the world around is and allow ourselves to grow and impact others at the same time in a positive way. The world would surely be less sour or hard for many of us. So, I challenge my readers this: take the time to think, to remember a few good curveballs that the Universe sent your way, and focus on those instead of all the negative stuff that can come your way. Maybe, just maybe, you will smile a bit more and forget more of the bad and less of the good.
Until then, see you soon, my lovelies.
